LLPDF
PDF Print Server

Overview

llpdf is a Windows LPD service that provides RFC 1179 LP server support, for Windows NT4 or later. llpdf can also be run in console mode. llpdf has been developed with experience and expertise gained from building print servers on various platforms since 1992. It is a print server designed for high-end, high volume printing of documents with little or no configuration. Automatic content detection allows llpdf to automatically render streams containing content such as PDF and Word formats, and automatically process compressed print files.
llpdf will accept print files from Unix, mainframe and Windows hosts. llpdf has small footprint and is designed let you access and process your print files with a minimum of fuss.

Features

  • Simple installation and configuration. "conf file" based administration means that large configurations are easily managed, archived and transferred to other servers. Disaster recovery setup is simplified.
For simple remote printing requirements, typically NO configuration is required.
  • Small server footprint. Installation and operation requires a minimum of CPU, disk space and memory.
  • Fast. Probably because it has a small footprint, llpdf provides high speed receipt and dispatch of your print files
  • Decompression. Will decompress print streams that have been compressed with the Spinifex LPR monitor, Werx4 or by Unix hosts.
  • Flexible. Handles text, binary, PDF, Word, SCS formats and many others. Script interface to the Windows Scripting Host (VBScript and JScript). Embedded scripting support. Support for execution of external filters.
  • PDF printing. Use PDF as your spool file format. llpdf will automatically detect and print PDF files, with your choice of PDF print options.
  • Active support. Have a problem. Let us know and we will do our best to solve it, in a timely manner.
  • Restartable. After a system shutdown (or you just tripped over the power cord), the server will restart processes that were abnormally terminated.
  • i-Series.Will print SCS or EBCDIC streams from IBM i-Series and z-Series.
  • Enhanced formatting options PDF and Text may be formatted with automatic "fit to page". Text and image watermarks may be added. Also we have font selection, color selection, duplex support, page selection, bin/tray selection.
  • ASA Carriage Control Seamlessly handles ASA Carriage Control Characters. ASA Carriage Control Characters can be filtered to their ASCII print equivalents.
  • "Hot" print folder llpdf provides a "hot" folder for print files. Files dropped in the hot folder will be handled by llpdf dispatch processing. Great for ad-hoc print jobs and manual restarts of failed jobs.
  • Multiple server instances. llpdf allows multiple server instances (bound to different addresses and/ports). The number of server instances that can be installed is ulimited.
  • Flexible Queue mapping. Print queues can be mapped to Windows printers, Windows processes or filters. There is no real limit to the number of queues that can be defined.
  • Scriptable filters and dispatch. Write your own script to handle a print file. Use the Windows Script Host (VBScript or JScript) or Lua Script. Lua script has a COM and/or Java interface available.
